Beyond the drone

Helicopter videography & photography

When a shoot needs to go further than a drone can, we take to the air in a helicopter. Heli gives us extended flight times, the payload for high-end cinema cameras, and the reach to altitudes and distances a drone simply can't cover.

It's the answer when a project spans significant distances, or works in areas where drone permits are restrictive or unattainable, delivering sweeping, high-end aerial footage that's impossible to capture any other way.

All flights are subject to suitable weather and aircraft availability. Work in regulated airspace near airports may require the helicopter to hold for air-traffic control, which we plan for as part of the shoot.

Standard drone work captures a building from the air. FPV drone videography flies through it: in the front door, along the corridor, down the stairwell and back out in one continuous take, with no cuts. Our FPV pilots are licensed and hold CASA OONP approval, so carefully coordinated flights with people in shot are possible. It pairs with the aerial work on this page in a single shoot.

Drone questions, answered.

Do you fly drones in regional WA and the Kimberley?
Yes, aerial work across regional Western Australia is a specialty, including the Pilbara, the Kimberley and the North West. We plan travel, access and logistics as part of the production.
What resolution do you film aerials in?
We capture aerial cinematography in 4K and 8K, which gives beautifully detailed footage and plenty of latitude for cropping, stabilising and grading in post.
Can you combine aerial with ground filming?
We can, and often do. Shooting aerial and ground footage together on the one shoot keeps your story cohesive and is far more efficient than separate shoots.
What can drone videography be used for?
Commercials, property and real estate, mining and resources, tourism, construction progress, events and brand films, anywhere a change in perspective adds scale and impact.
Are you CASA-approved to fly drones commercially?
Yes. Our aerial work is flown under Australian CASA regulations by licensed remote pilots, with the operating approvals and public-liability insurance required for commercial drone and heli production.
Do you arrange airspace and area approvals?
We do. Controlled airspace (for example near airports), national parks, events and some council or private land need approvals or permits before we can fly. We check each location and organise the necessary CASA area approvals and landholder permissions as part of planning the shoot.
When would we use a helicopter instead of a drone?
When a shoot needs greater altitude, longer distances or extended flight time than a drone allows, or when drone permits are restricted in the area. A helicopter also carries our high-end cinema cameras for a different class of aerial vision. We'll recommend drone, heli or both based on your brief and location.
Do you offer FPV drone video as well?
Yes. FPV (first-person view) is a small, agile drone flown by hand through a space in one continuous take, indoors and out, and our FPV pilots hold CASA OONP approval so people can be in shot. It has its own page, FPV drone videography, with recent fly-throughs and how a shoot runs. We often fly standard drone and FPV on the same day.
